New Zealand run riot to thrash France in Cardiff Quarter Final

France were put to the sword by a commanding All Blacks performance that blew them away in Cardiff. The 62-13 victory included 9 outstanding tries, and well and truly avenged the famous loss of 2007 at the same venue.

Julian Savea scored a hat-trick, with a few runs that were perhaps the closest he's ever come to emulating the unstoppable might of Jonah Lomu at his best.

As good as New Zealand were though, France were poor, slipping tackles and never really fronting up physically. A yellow card to their most impressive forward didn't help matters.

The All Blacks will face the Springboks in the Semi Final next weekend. More to follow.

So I could not watch the game, as I was at a friend's birthday.
Saw it the following day, and considering the comments and result, I actually expected much worse from Les Bleus. Especially considering the way we'be been playing the last 4 years. The first half was not too bad I think, they just totally cracked when Picamoles was sent off. Oh and the AB just played magnificently. Leguizamon said it's like that sometimes when you play NZ: you blink and they score 20 points. They played much better than in the group stages and if they go on like that, I doubt anyone can beat them.
Anyways like all French fans, I'll be glad to see Saint Andre leaving. Worst record for a French coach in about what, 40 years?

By the way, did anyone notice that half of the teams in the quarter finals had kiwi coaches ?? I really dislike the way the French team has been using foreign players lately, but I can't imagine Les Bleus with a non-French speaking coach either......

Did anyone else do a Keith Quinn impression when Savea ran over the 3 French players?

New Zealand were awesome in this match, absolutely awesome. Bloody good luck to them.

The impressive thing about this performance was the simplicity of the way the abs play. 1-15 can handle, carry and put in work at the breakdown. They can play with such width because a prop will do the same as a winger. And there is pace everywhere

The nh have tried to implement this but end up with pod systems quite simply because we are hell bent on forwards doing forward stuff and lack the skill levels ball in hand or trust

That's not to say I don't get irritated by the free for all approach to the breakdown the abs seem to be permitted, but as usual in rugby the good team going forward generally get the rub of the green

Of course the AB were playing nicely. But I mainly remember that the french played their worst game. During the first half, the blacks weren't that impressive imo. The french were impressively bad that's it. Losing every high ball, missing so many tackles... Bad even where they were suppose to be good: brute force and defense. Good riddance.

Exactly. I feel sorry for some players, but I am truly happy they have lost that way. Now there is no way for PSA, Lagisquet, Blanco, Camou, the federations and the club to lie to themselves or deny the reality the way they did for four years. There is a (small) chance to start seriously over, like England will probably do.

In my language we speak of a "snotklap" - a smack that sends the snot flying. This was a snotklap.
