The Crusaders clinched the first-ever Super Rugby Aotearoa title with their come-from-behind 32-22 victory over the Highlanders. Despite the win, thoughts were with replacement prop Oli Jager after he was carted off in the second half due to a reckless tackle from Sio Tomkinson.
The hit came off the ball with about 15 minutes left on the clock. Tomkinson can be seen lowering his shoulder and connecting viciously with Jager, knocking the prop out cold.
Unsurprisingly, the resulting yellow card was seen as too lenient by the home crowd. Jager was carried from the field with a concussion.
Speaking of the situation, Crusaders coach Scott Robertson said: "There is a judiciary for this reason. It felt like there was contact with the head, he was knocked out. Off the ball. So...."
Normally with another title in hand, there are videos aplenty of Robertson breakdancing among the victors. However, with one more match against the Blues, it's back to business as usual.
"Everyone's calling for me to dance, but I don't think it's the right time," former All Blacks back-rower Robertson said.
"It doesn't feel quite right. Just with what happened to Oli and the circumstances. There will be another time for that...
