Pascal Pape and Wenceslas Lauret red carded after tense Paris derby brawl

The drama surrounding Stade Francais and Racing 92 took another ugly turn on the weekend as the match between the two rival clubs descended into an a brawl, with two players sent off.

Fresh off their failed merger, the two clubs came out swinging - literally - and the punches resulted in red cards for both Pascal Pape, who was playing his last home match for Stade, and Racing's Wenceslas Lauret.

Proceedings began with the typical grabbing and shoving before the Stade lock decided to throw a fist that - albeit possibly unintentionally - landed in the face of Henry Chavancy.

Laurent was then shown red for retaliating with a swing of his own. It appears more punches may've been thrown but these two were the only ones disciplined. Chavancy required medical attention as blood was streaming down his face.

The action happened just shy of half-time. Both teams were reduced to 14 men as Stade were holding a 13-6 lead. The second half started all square at 13 apiece before Stade scored a couple of quick tries. Racing answered back with 10 straight points but Stade held on to win the match 27-23.

Perhaps it was a fitting send off for Pape, who has known his share of ill-discipline. Nevertheless, he was lifted up post match by his teammates in honour of his tenure with the club.

Would rather watch this a hundred times than fairy footballers rolling around on the ground acting hurt with "painful" faces.

I think he said 'wipe the floor with this dick' which is slghtly different!

If you want a second row who could achieve your alternative action, from all accounts the man you would be looking for would be Simon Shaw....

Ah, hahaha, I had my gibberish filter turned on and missed that...

I was just adapting to the level of the 'wipe the floor with his dick' comment....

Butthurt.... Oliver, are you in possession of a American YouTube to French dictionary to guide your English speaking by any chance? I think perhaps facing Cudmore or Bakkies in a toe to toe aggressive fashion is the amusing side of things..it never happened, Why? Did Pape know he'd get wrecked?

I'd say the difference between Cudmore, Bakkies V Pape, is that at least the two former knew they were dickheads, the latter still seems to have that surprised schoolboy look on his face when he throws in a ridiculous cheap shot

low math skills? or maye a second-rower yourself?

Pape is 36, he's faced all these guys for years. And honestly praising Botha or Cudmore while demeaning Pape is just ridiculous. Or are you just another butthurt Irish fan?

Hahaha Pape against Cudmore would have been hilarious. As we've seen before Cudmore is a loose cannon and can start throwing the first punch almost without provocation...And the second...Third...Fourth...Fifth...

Pape, as i think we can all agree, is a knob.

Not quite sure what good king Wenceslas did to get sent off; it wasnt even a punch, more a nudge with a clenched fist...yellow would have done.

A few years ago Pape would have found himself up against the like of Jamie Cudmore, Bakkies Botha or Danny Grewcock...proper second rows who quite simply wipe the floor with this dick.

To me it's almost a look of surprise, running in to break up a fight and getting punched when you are showing no aggression is the sort of time where that face is perfect it's the "omg...you....you.. just hit me... what was that for? I didn't do anything" It's THAT face!!

    He's a complete prat.

Does anyone know whether he was bleeding as a result of the scuffle or the ruck or tackle prior to it? (Or prior to that?)

Pape is such a twat. His look of indignant outrage after copping a halfhearted blow to the side of his head mere seconds after he smashed a guy's eye open kind of describes the man.

Wow, Pape is a really class act. The sport of rugby will really miss him. No, but joking aside, it seems fitting that his last act playing at home will be remembered as him punching an unsuspecting person and getting red-carded.

Whole thing was a bit 'meh'....

Only person I'd have carded is the pink 11 for being a prat...

    No big deal.
    Let them play.

    Stay away backline players.

You missed the whole point of this class struggle between Pascal who led the strike, who is up for the battle and Chavancy, the upper class boy, who did not take position during the merger announcementt.
