Tomorrow will see one of rugby's greatest rivalries take centre stage once again. The world champions South Africa welcome the All Blacks in the most highly anticipated Southern Hemisphere clash of the year.
Ahead of this monumental occasion let's recall one of the greatest ever moments in test matches between the two sides.
Back in 2014 when New Zealand were at the very height of their powers, they were welcomed to Ellis Park in the final game of the Rugby Championship. The fired-up Springbok side were ready to play everything that was in front of them.
The game came right down to the wire. In the final moments, the All Blacks looked to have won the game when they were awarded a scrum in their own 22, halting the South African attack. This was not to be, as there was huge controversy when the previous play was shown on the big screen. Referee Wayne Barnes ordered a review to be done on a potential no-arms tackle by the All Blacks substitute.
As a result, a 55-metre penalty was awarded to the Springboks. With perfect conditions for kicking, a young Pat Lambie stepped up to take the most important kick of his career.
Speaking afterward Lambie recalled that such a huge kick meant less pressure for the young fly-half, as he was sure people would forgive him if he missed.
No need to worry however, the kick was perfect and sailed through with plenty of room.
