Prince Edward skins opposition with Royal Goose Step

Prince Edward has paid a visit to Strathmore Community Rugby Trust at Inchmacoble Park on Thursday, as he participated in a game of walking rugby with locals in Angus, Dundee.

The game of walking rugby is a fantastic way for those of all ages and abilities to keep active and enjoy both the social and the sporting aspects of the game.

Prince Edward was taking no prisoners, however. It was his world cup final, and the goose-stepping maverick was not allowing anyone to stop him.

With the playmaking ability of Marcus Smith and the footwork of Jason Robinson, the Earl of Wessex linked up play as if he was born for the sport.

Sporting the much-advised smart trousers and office shoes, the legend himself performed a pivot move that even the greats could only dream of.

Royal rumble as Prince Edward plays walking rugby on a visit to a community project

This was the prince's second visit to the charity, after being named Royal Patron of the Strathmore Community Rugby Trust in 2020. This visit marked 5 years of the charity's existence, with Prince Edward having had the following to say about them in the past:

“It is charities like Strathmore Community Rugby Trust and the brilliant people that run them that provide such wonderful opportunities for all. This is an organisation that the community of Forfar and Angus should be proud of and I sincerely hope that with your support and encouragement will continue to grow and flourish."

Strathmore Community Rugby Trust supports adults and children with various conditions through rugby. Their aim is to instill the rugby ethos into participants, coaches, and volunteers of all ages so that they can develop and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of rugby

Trust chairperson, Stuart Gray had the following to say about the Earl's visit:

“We’re greatly honoured to have His Royal Highness visit the trust again, this time in his role as our Royal Patron, as we mark five years promoting and aiding health and wellbeing for all ages through our rugby-based projects.

“Thanks to all involved, including our funders and sponsors as well as our partners Strathmore RFC, Brechin RFC, Scottish Rugby and Scotland Rugby League, for their continuing support. We’re keen to speak to potential sponsors about projects we plan to launch in the coming months.”
