Quick Thinking Etzebeth Scores Thrilling Try To Keep Sharks Alive In London

Durban based URC team the Cell C Sharks travelled to south west London looking to close out their Champions Cup pool game undefeated.

Facing them was a motivated Harlequins side in search of a victory to ensure qualification to the last sixteen.

In a ding-dong battle, Quins came out on top with a crucial bonus point 39 – 29 victory to lock up their knock-out place.

Both sides put some sublime attacking rugby on tape but one moment in particular stands from Springbok legend Eben Etzebeth.

Just before the halftime whistle, the Sharks were trailing 24 – 15 and staring down a tough second half.

As one would expect from one of the most experienced international players in the game’s history, Etzebeth took it upon himself to drag his side back into the contest.

Looking to clear their lines, Quins created a “caterpillar” for scrumhalf Danny Care to have adequate time to get the kick away.

In a moment of quick thinking Etzebeth saw Care touch the ball and bring it live.

From here the giant secondrow sprinted away like a gazelle let loose to bring his side right back into the contest.
