Quick thinking sets up clever try in the Championship

Based towards the southwest edge of the United Kingdom, Penzance is one of English rugby's most unique venues for a professional outfit.

Representing the region, the Cornish Pirates are enjoying a strong season in the Championship to date, running in 3rd position with 14 matches played.

Facing fellow top-five side Doncaster Knights, who were recently accepted as a potential option to move to the Premiership should they win the promotion battle, the Pirates showed exactly why they are genuine contenders this season.

Playing out a scintilating 27 - 27 draw, the two sides were full value for the result.

One moment that has been doing the rounds from the fixture was a bit of quick thinking from the Pirates following a Doncaster kick-off.

As the ball drifted into touch from a Doncaster kick-off, the Pirates took full advantage of a Law that is perhaps underutilised as they sprinted back to the halfway.

From here they caught the Knights napping as they took a quick throw-in before racing away for a crucial try.

Moments like this highlight the quality of players on show in the Championship, and, more importantly, that one can never switch off on the rugby pitch!
