Fiji and Bristol star Semi Radradra returned to action on Friday night with a lovely piece of skill to set up a counter attack for the Bears.
Radradra, 29, has been out injured for several months and made his first Premiership appearance against Gloucester on Friday, coming off the bench at half time.
In true Radradra fashion, he made an instant impact from the restart to set up Henry Purdy on the wing with a lovely step and offload. The Fijian took out two Gloucester defenders to put Purdy in space.
Unfortunately for Bristol Purdy wasn’t able to capitalise from Radradra’s brilliance and kicked the ball straight into touch, but many Gloucester fans would’ve been questioning their side’s tactics at the restart.
This is because Radradra is one of the game’s most dangerous attacking threats and last season he destroyed Bath on multiple occasions directly from the restart in almost identical fashion.
Despite the introduction of Radradra on Friday night, Gloucester came away with a 27-10 win at Kingsholme.
Gloucester director of rugby, George Skivington, who celebrated his 39th birthday with the win, was delighted with his side’s performance: “Hopefully it gets the supporters excited and we still know we have a long way to go but I am pleased with that part of how we are – how tight the boys are and how much this means to them.”
Meanwhile Bristol boss Pat Lam, who’s side has now lost six Premiership games from nine, added: “The frustration is that we cannot get into our game. We talked all week about trying to get in behind them. The space was there but we got caught in behind them. We spent a lot of time giving them momentum.”
