Referee lauded for letting mouthy scrumhalf know that it's time to show respect

Referee Jaco van Heerden has been praised for the way that he dealt with a chirpy scrumhalf in the weekend's Currie Cup clash between the Cheetahs and EP Kings in Bloemfontein. Van Heerden, an Advocate by trade, had no time for Ricky Schroeder, who was firmly put in his place.

"The more you're gonna shout at me, the less I'm gonna respond to it. Shhh," said Van Heerden, to which the Kings number nine could only respond, "Sorry, Sir".

Perfectly handled by the ref, and a great response by Schroeder, who got the message loud and clear.

With the scrumhalf muted, the Cheetahs went on to win the match 57-25.

Scrum Halves are like Jack Russell Terriers.
They're small, nippy, make a lot of noise and when you talk to them it's in one ear and out the other.

They should carry duct tape for these eventualities.
