As the days bear up to Christmas, a certain west-country side will be wishing for some good tidings to be brought their way in the new year. The side in question, Gloucester, are currently sitting in the very unhappy position of ninth place in the England Premiership, just above the winless and gravely concerned Newcastle Falcons.
Such is the season of giving, it is being reported by the Rugby Paper that George Skivington's side is currently flicking through the Argos catalogue looking for a big purchase to bring their fans. The proposed gift in question appears to be Welsh flyhalf, Callum Sheedy, as the cherry and whites look to get him sent over express delivery from Bristol.
Sheedy is currently in fine form with Bristol Bears, with rival playmaker AJ Macginty remaining on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
The choice to sign Sheedy would work well for the west-country side, as the 28-year-old would no longer be eligible for international selection, meaning that he would provide fantastic cover during the Six Nations and other international periods. Sheedy's general avoidance of injury comes as a stark contrast to Adam Hastings who is just returning from yet another stint in the physio room.
Sheedy's Bristol Bears contract runs out at the end of the season, and will only remain eligible for Wales selection if he signs for a club inside the four Welsh regions, as his 16-caps do not qualify him for the 25-cap overseas selection.
Should Gloucester fail to secure the services of Sheedy or any other top-level playmaker, they do have the option of playing Argentina international Santiago Carreras at fly-half - however, Skivington is known to prefer having him play at fullback.
