Report: Will Skelton's injury potentially more severe than previously thought

Will Skelton has suffered from a calf issue during Thursday's training session, as the Wallabies build up to this weekend's match against Fiji in Saint-Etienne. He has undergone scans on his calf, whilst Eddie Jones expressed that Skelton would have until kick-off on Sunday to recuperate.

"At this stage, he's still in the team," Eddie Jones said. “He got a bit of a knock at the end of training and he is just getting some extra medical work."

Australian outlet, The Roar are, however, reporting that Skelton’s 'tight calf' is potentially a tear rather than a strain, which could be a much more serious injury for the 6 ft 8 in lock.

This news comes just a week after Jones credited his new skipper for his leadership qualities and the way he was bringing the squad together.

“It’s a real credit to Will and the way he’s leading the team, the ways he’s got the boys together off the field, and there’s a real feeling that this team could do something and they’re all working for each other.”
