Rhys Webb makes request following French Anti-Doping meeting

Rhys Webb made the headlines a couple of days ago after receiving a positive drug test from the French Anti-Doping Agency after an unexpected check back in July. If found guilty, the former Wales and British and Irish Lions player could face a ban of up to four years - effectively ending his playing career.

According to reports from the French magazine, L'Equipe, Webb has since requested that his B sample be tested to ensure that no mistakes had been made during the testing. The 34-year-old maintained his innocence throughout a meeting with the French Anti-Doping Agency on Monday.

During the hearing, Webb received additional information regarding the positive drug test he had for growth hormones last month and remains suspended from playing, training, or using the facilities of his new club, Biarritz.

Biarritz president Jean-Baptiste Aldige said on Sunday after the news broke: “We have been notified of this information. The investigation is ongoing. The club, which is not involved, is awaiting deliberations and the investigation.”
