Taking to social media, the club posted a heartfelt message, describing a player who had a passionate love for the sport: "It is with deep sadness we acknowledge the passing of our Hibiscus teammate Melita Williams", the club started. "Mel has been the mainstay of our forward pack over the last 3 seasons. She lifted us up when we needed it the most with her energy, determination, always showcasing her love for the game. Our Hibiscus family would like to send our heartfelt condolences to Mel’s family and the wider rugby communities she contributed to."
