Northampton Saints scrum half Cobus Reinach scored a remarkable interception try straight form a lineout against Premiership leaders Exeter Chiefs on Friday night.

Reinach’s bonus point try came in the 56th minute when both teams were level on 21 points and the South African ran 55 metres to touch the ball down.

Saints won the game 31-28 at Franklin's Gardens making it Exeter’s second loss of the season and leaving them five points clear of Saracens, with the champions hosting Worcester this afternoon (29 Jan).

Reinach, who signed for Northampton from the Sharks in 2017, scored another interception try in the Premiership last week against Worcester, except that time he ran 90 metres and the 28-year-old has now scored six premiership tries this season.

Northampton’s next game will be away against Wasps on Sunday, 6 January.

No secret where he gets his pace from. His dad, Jaco, was a Springbok and Free State wing in the 80's, but was arguably more famous for holding the SA 400m record (45.01s set in 1983) for 16 years. He could skin defenders on the outside like few others. Most memorable was a try he scored against the NZ Cavaliers in '86, receiving a pass from Danie Gerber. All the famous Afrikaans commentator, Gerhard Viviers, could say, over and over as he tore down the touch line, was "Hier kom spoed!" (Here comes speed!)

That Reinach try is the last of the four in this video. This Bok team had one of the most lethal backlines ever. Danie Gerber, the du Plessis brothers, Naas Botha, Johan Heunis at fullback and Reinach on right wing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsJsB-OL730
