Scarlets Enforcer Receives Costly Red Card In Narrow Derby Loss

Cardiff Blues came away with a narrow derby win over fierce rivals the Scarlets in round four of the United Rugby Championship 2022.

The home side struggled to make an impact in round three against an in-form Benetton away but losing a home fixture will sting them.

It will be even worse knowing that they had a real chance of getting a win as they were right on the Cardiff line with three minutes left to play.

What followed was a very poorly executed attempt at a clean out that saw Scarlets marquee signing Vaea Fifita sent off.

The hulking backrow-cum-secondrow made direct contact with the Shane Lewis-Hughes giving referee Adam Jones with no choice but to give Fifita his marching orders.

Cardiff managed to hang on and squeak out a 16 – 10 win in Llanelli that releases the pressure on a side under immense pressure both on and off the field.
