Scotland flanker Hamish Watson scored arguably the cleverest set piece try of the year against South Africa at Murrayfield on Saturday afternoon.

The home side had a lineout on the Springbok five metre line and executed a wonderful move which saw a dummy jumper free up space for openside flanker Watson to score their second try of the game.

Scotland went on to lose the game 20-26 but the first two tries of the match were also well worth a mention.

South Africa scored the first try through Jesse Kriel who finished off a wonderful team try in the first five minutes, but fifteen minutes later Scotland responded with a 60-metre stunner.

Scottish centre Huw Jones produced two clever offloads in the build-up which saw Peter Horne score under the posts to level the points.

A late penalty from replacement fly half Elton Jantjies sealed victory for the Springboks at Murrayfield and they will now face Wales in Cardiff next weekend while Scotland host Argentina.

Ridiculous yellow card, by the way. If ever there was a fair attempt at the intercept, that was it.

He did attempt to catch the ball but was it remotely realistic at that speed, that high with one hand?

Very clever. But correct me if I'm wrong: If he wanted to join the line-out - i.e. receive the ball - from the scrumhalf position, one of the existing players in the lineout would have to leave. Otherwise they have too many in the lineout.

Having looked at it again, I reckon Watson was legal. He's still well outside the lineout by the time the hooker releases the ball. I think that makes his joining the lineout legit.

The main issue I would say is the fake lift, otherwise it’s quite creative. I wish england would have mixed things up like this when they started losing every lineout against the kiwis
