Seven of the best tries from the 2017 Wellington Sevens

Wellington played host to the first World Sevens Series round of 2017, with South Africa comfortably seeing off Fiji 26-5 to take victory in the cup final. Predictably, there were a plethora of incredible tries throughout the weekend.

Arguably, the pick of the bunch was the first featured score in World Rugby's round-up, scored by speed merchant Perry Baker. The USA flyer performed a near miracle to weave his way round several French defenders to romp to the line in typically electric pace.

Fiji also scored two scorchers as well, with Jasa Veremelua finishing off a great move while Joeli Lutumalagi displayed a superb turn of pace to get around Seabelo Senatla and touch down in the final against the Blitzbokke, albeit in defeat.

All Blacks captain Scott Curry also got a well-deserved try after a sensational piece of footwork from 18 year-old Vilimoni Koroi. The up-and-coming youngster made short work of the English defence and brilliantly offloaded to Curry, who cruised over.

I believe he stepped down as NZ coach due to poor performance in Olympics and throughout the 2016 season. Pressure from the locals perhaps.

Any idea why Tietjens left NZ? I thought he retired but he went coaching Samoa instead.
