The HSBC Sydney Sevens has seen some terrifically expansive play this weekend in a festival of rugby that could well be the final one of its kind in the country. With the Sevens circuit set to be transformed next year, Australia could well have hosted the famous world circuit for the final time.
As if they knew, the players ensured they put on a real spectacle for the fans watching, none more so than in the Uraguay vs Spain game.
Looking to regain possession at the kick-off, the Spanish side flicked the ball back to their own players. Ever the unpredictable bounce of the rugby ball, it was met first by Guillermo Lijtenstein of Uraguay as he headed the ball along the touchline. Following his intuitive thinking, Lijtenstein then used his footballing skills to nudge the ball further up the field before regaining and then passing back inside for Valentin Grille to finish off.
