Sinoti Sinoti step from another planet helps Newcastle to victory

Newcastle Falcons winger Sinoti Sinoti showed how to step at a right angle on his way to scoring in their 28-20 win over Premiership leading Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. The win was Newcastle's sixth in a row and moves them into the sixth spot on the table.

The Falcons scored two tries in three minutes, starting with this nasty bit of work from the Samoan international. The try was not without controversy, however, as it appears the final pass was forward.

Toby Flood, the wily veteran, attempted a drop-kick conversion as quickly as possible though, avoiding a TMO review of the try. His kick missed, but the try stood.

Forward or not, Sinoti outran one defender and tied two more in knots with a side-step for the ages. The defensive chase back was good, but the Samoan was too quick.

The Falcons had a comfortable 25-3 lead at halftime, scoring three tries to nil, before stoutly holding off a second half attack - in which the Chiefs came back to trail just 25-20 - to secure their sixth win in a row. 

The loss was ever more bitter for the Chiefs, who were also missing some key players, as they failed to secure any points for the overall competition and their league winning streak was halted at seven.

    Sinoti Sinoti is one of the most underrated players in the league, imo. Brilliant bit of skill. You know your step is good when your opposing winger is left tripping over his own feet.

    The reason we don't see that type of step week in week out is because it wouldn't put most wingers off balance.

    Just down to poor, poor defending.

    It's literally a 1 v 2. Sonoti is already somewhat off balance due to the no 2. Defender should realise that he has 2 players on his inside so that the only place that Sonoti can harm him is on the outside and he proceeds to allow that to happen.

    You only get credit for catching up if it affects the outcome, otherwise it's loser talk.

    Brilliant step. Good recovery pace too, tbf. Them Lienister tries have been sth else too - esp the recent Ulster one .Foly Huck that was bananas.

    (pity about Lamour's defense in the 10 mins before the try on the 28th, J Smith sees these things too....)

    Well, you're a Leinster fan so I'd suggest your opinion is rather biased. That side step from Sinoti is exceptional.

    the rule has changed such that its doesn't matter if the conversion is taken quickly to prevent a TMO review. The TMO review can happen after the conversion has been taken (drop goal or place kick) any time prior to the restart. Farrell was trying to do it for Daly's try against Aus I think and it was pointed out to him then

    Sorry folks, this is indeed a nicely taken try - deserving of its own article, I think not. I would suggest that at least three of the six tries I witnessed at this weekends Leinster v Ulster game were at least as good, if not better. As for Larmours try against Munster on Dec 26, it was on another level altogether.

    As much as Short got made to look silly initially, I feel he should get some credit for managing catching up to Sinoti in a short distance and very nearly holding him up despite stumbling and having to turn.
