England defence coach Sir Kevin Sinfield is set to leave his role with the English national team less than one year after his appointment by the RFU.
Sinfield who is a former Rugby League superstar was a part of head coach Steve Borthwick's Leicester Tigers coaching staff before joining him in the England set-up.
According to reports in the Telegraph, Sinfield has been hailed as an expert motivator by several England players but due to his lack of experience as a coach in Rugby Union to make a significant impact on the international stage.
Speaking about Sinfield's motivational ability, England fullback Freddie Steward was emphatic in his praise.
“That’s what makes Kev such a good defence coach, he’s so inspiring.
“He motivates us so much and he’s the sort of bloke you don’t want to let down. That’s testament to him as a bloke.
"When you go out there, part of it is you do it for him. You don’t want to see a guy like that who puts his heart and soul into us in his work with his defence feel let down.” Steward said.
It is now believed that former England defence coach Paul Gustard who left the role in 2018 to become head coach of Premiership club Harlequins has been approached about a return.
Currently Gustard is plying his trade in the French Top 14 as defence coach for Paris based club Stade Francais.
Prior to his time with England, Gustard was the defence coach for Premiership powerhouse Saracens between 2008 - 2016.
