Six Of The Best Tries from the 2014 Six Nations Championship

With the Six Nations just around the corner, as part of the build up we'll be sharing clips from previous years, as well as highlights and videos during once the tournament itself kicks off. This one above looks at six of the best tries scored in last year's Championship.

Unfortunately there is no commentary, due to rights restrictions, but some of the scores are excellent and it's enjoyable nonetheless. Tryscorers in order are Andrew Trimble, Michele Campagnaro, Jamie Roberts, George North, Danny Care and Hugo Bonneval

    I love his commentary. Wish he'd been around more in the 'modern era' - I feel many of us 'younger lot' missed out on his commentary.

    Although Jonah Lomu rugby has etched Bill's commentary for me "digging in like a demented mole"

    6 Nations, 6 tries yet only scored by 5 nations? Why do Wales get two tries and against 14 men? Italy try is a kick and chase from a forward pass. Despite this 6 Nations is "Rugby's Greatest Championship"! I'd rather watch paint dry than this farcical tournament.

    Are you sure you're not a forward?

    I think it's a judgement call... I believe the common rule is 'always mark the outside man' as far as backs are concerned (this is a forwards understanding so please take pity)..

    I personally follow your train of thought, there is nothing more embarrassing for a forward (especially when I've been playing back row) than being sold a dummy and standing there in middle ground like a lemon... I'd rather ruin the original ball carriers day so that next time he passes earlier...or on a couple occasions wonders round the field holding his stomach for a while..

    Hopefully he'll do some six nations commentary...

    Personally I think the Scottish wing's at fault. My rule of thumb is smash the bastard and worry about an overlap later. If the git gets the ball away, well at least you've smashed him.

    I find nothing more frustrating when I play than when I think I'm being clever and anticipating a pass and trying to cover both players, then failing to stop either, when a straightforward rib-tickler on the ball-carrier would probably have done the job.

    I've been a fan of the Jedi since he commentated at the Clapham Grand during the 07 world cup. Commentary from a bloke more trashed than half the pub crowd!

    Should be. you can always put a "parent advisory" warning on the screen.

    By the way, here's another approach to avoiding shit commentary, which I have done with some success. Watch the Sky coverage, but with Harrison & Barnes bloody well muted as they should be, then simultaneously stream Captain Jedi's Alternative Rugby Commentary off the internet.

    I don't have sky, but I remember a while back there was the ability to 'push the red button' and it would change the sound so that you're on a different sound channel I guess and it was just the referee's mic you could hear...

    ...Not sure whether this option is still available? If not, I can see how it could be taken away given the proximity of the referee to some colourful language..

    Don't know about anyone else but I'd be very happy to watch more rugby like this and enjoy the sound of the game itself and the roar of the crowd, maybe actually hear the ref instead of some dick talking over him. Some proper analysis is always welcome but when you think about it most commentators don't add much, just describing what you can see for yourself.

    Either of two welsh tries were the best. The Danny Care try was a good line break followed by a 2 on 1, clinical but nothing special. And the Bonneval try is a well finished intercept but once again it's an intercept.

    I love the first welsh try because as they're running down the sideline, look at the Scottish winger, he's practically sideways trying to keep Welshman inside him with a good covering Scottish defence but the ball carrier spots this, resists the seemingly easy 2 on 1 and steps inside

    I believe the try by Bonneval should be struck from the record due to the final pass being made by Huget - who is a diving disgrace.
