Six-year-old smashes through opposition in heartwarming viral video

Rugby players come in all shapes and sizes, and that's part of what makes the game so beautiful. It doesn't matter what build or height you are, the game will always find a place for you.

This was personified during a recent Queensland junior rugby league game when a clip was uploaded to Tiktok showing six-year-old player, Fou, running rings around his opposition. The clip was uploaded by Fou's father, which he captioned: “This is the kid most parents don’t want their son playing against. Instead of complaining about my son, give credit to yours for having a go”.

As young players grow, their abilities and skills grow with them, and Fou's father was keen to stress the importance and benefits for both his child and other children in playing together.

“From playing tackle with his older brothers and cousins in the backyard at a younger age, contact sport is definitely for him,”

“I’m not trying to put any other kid [or] player down, but instead, I applaud their efforts on the field alongside and against my son” he added.

Fou's father was keen to emphasize how playing against a larger child like his could be an important lesson on tackling technique, and how it could benefit them in their rugby education.

“Kids will be kids but I refuse to let any idiot talk down my son because of his age and size.

“If you don’t like the way my son plays footy, do something about it like educating our kids to tackle other than being a ‘expert’ on social media.

“We don’t tell the faster kids to slow down for the slower kids, so why tell the big kids to take it easy on the little kids?”

In a heartwarming clip at the end of the video, Fou is shown to check on his opposition player after a big hit.

Fans on social media have enjoyed the short clip, with one person even joking about the intensity of Fou's running style: “He looked like he was gonna go for the ref for a second".
