Here's a quick look at Bayonne's sneaky restart against Toulon in the Top 14 at the weekend. This is the type of thing that gets attempted at school or lower grade rugby fairly often, but it's not all that common with the pros. It was well executed on this occasion by Argentine Santiago Fernandez.

Soccer doesn't deserve to have anything other than a swift kick in the arse..

I'd agree but he gets the ball back a step beyond the ten so in my opinion the ball travelled at least ten so play on. If he got it at the ten I'd say blow it up.

This is a great quick restart by Francois Steyn http://www.rugbydump.com/2010/09/1614/sireli-bobo-scores-from-francois-steyn-quick-restart

it doesn't have an impact on the game if he kicks deep.

in this case, the is a much bigger argument for it - as he got a step on the ball, kicking it

Or you just let it go?
Lot of restarts are played a bit in front of the line every weekend. Refs are often criticized for stopping the game too much, so why bother with that tiny thing, which has no real impact on the game?

Nice. If he could have got a little pop pass to the bloke next to him it could have been awesome!
