Wasps speedsters Tom Varndell and Christian Wade have teamed up with Kukri to present a series of videos featuring training methods that will help you to develop your speed and agility. Today we bring you the videos as well as a great competition.

After an excellent season for the lightning fast wingers, where they scored 13 tries each, they initiated this project to give you an exclusive look at the type of training they do.

"We made these quick tip training vids to help rugby players of all abilities to improve their speed, power & agility. We also want to give viewers an insight in to what professional rugby players do in specific speed/power/agility training sessions, and inspire them to go and put it into practice."

"We hope the videos can provide a quick but effective way of teaching the basics of what we do in terms of speed training and ways to hopefully improve and add to their own speed training."

The Kukri Hex

Teaming up with Kukri to produce the videos, they use the Kukri Hex rings, a versatile 3-in-1 training aid that helps players to improve speed and agility through the use of rings and hurdles.

"The Kukri Hex Agility Rings take speed and agility to another level," said Varndell.

"They are really versatile and good fun too, so they make training more interesting. They also transfer on to the pitch easily because you can move them around and you can develop new training drills with them.  I think they’re great!"

Christian Wade, who scored against the Barbarians and will be touring with England over the next few weeks, says that they're an awesome training aid.

"This is the first time I've come across the Kukri Hex Agility Rings and there are so many different drill options you can do because each ring has six sides, unlike the ladders where you can only go forwards and backwards.  You can also turn them into hurdles which is amazing."

Speaking of competitions..... I've been lucky enough to progress to the final 2 people in Scotland in a competition to go on the lions tour in Aus this year. It's really a once in a lifetime opportunity and to win I need more votes than the other scottish finalist. One person goes from each of the home nations and I'd Love to be the scottish representative! Especially given the lack of scots in this year's tour party ;)

Whilst I've never commented much at all up until now, I've been loyal to RD for as long as I can remember, way back in the early TRSB days, super 12 stuff, no hd videos, etc. Despite not posting I always found it interesting to read many of the comments and it's great to see the same faces popping up time and time again. WelshOsprey, Cheyanqu, Guy, colombes, the countless anon posts back in the day, to name but a few.

    Anyways, here's the link

This would be a dream come true for me and I can't emphasise enough how much I appreciate the support! I should probably post this on the RD forum but i've not been able to log on as of yet.

My name's John Carson, thank you very much for your votes and your time. Cheers!
