Spine Tingling Chants Of O'Gara Rain Down In La Rochelle

Irish legend Ronan O’Gara has gone being one of the best flyhalves in the game to one of the most in demand coaches in World Rugby in the space of a decade.

A centurion for Ireland at international level during his plays, O’Gara was an absolute icon of the Irish game as he guided Munster to two Heineken Cup victories as well as landing the winning drop goal to land Ireland its first Grand Slam in sixty years.

Since then, O’Gara has gone on a rather nomadic adventure as coach with stops firstly in Paris followed by a stint in Christchurch before taking over the reins at La Rochelle.

Now firmly intrenched with the French giants, O’Gara guided his side to a first ever Heineken Champions Cup victory in last year’s final.

As the Champions Cup once again comes quickly into vision following the conclusion of the Autumn Nations Series. O’Gara’s name is on the tip of a number of national unions tongue.

Leading the charge are the roles as head coach of Wales and England, two sides that Irish fans would’ve previously thought O’Gara would never lead.

As a staunch Irish and Munster legend, the thought of O’Gara wearing the red of Wales or white of England sends a shiver down Irish fans spine.

Due to the incredible work being done by Andy Farrell with Ireland, the Irish job is unlikely to be available any time soon and as such O’Gara may well decide to take on another role.

Having recently signed a contract extension with La Rochelle, the option of staying with his club is certainly there. One feels however should he RFU come with a big deal could the temptation be too much for O’Gara.

One thing is for certain however, O’Gara is loved in La Rochelle with the whole town seemingly behind him and desperate to keep him where is.
