Stirling Mortlock's big hit on fellow Wallaby David Pocock

The biggest hit of the Barbarians vs Wallabies game at Twickenham on the weekend was on David Pocock and came from none other than fellow Australian, and former captain, Stirling Mortlock. Here's another look at it, as well as some links to other great moments over his esteemed career.

Mortlock has been out of favour with the Wallabies for some time now, losing the captaincy some time ago and missing out on the RWC. He struggled with injuries for most of his career, and now skippers the Melbourne Rebels in Super Rugby. This was his biggest game to date.

"It was a chance to play one more top level game and I jumped at it straight away.  I don’t really think it will lead to anything else but I’ve been lucky to have had a fantastic career and this will expand on it," Mortlock said before the match.

This was his opportunity to show his former teammates that at 34, he's still a force to be reckoned with, and while he was on the wrong side of a 60-11 hiding on the day, he still managed to put a few big shots in, with this one on captain on the occasion, David Pocock.

Congrats to Alex Cuthbert on getting his first cap, albeit only for a couple of minutes. He is HUGE!, and likes the fillies, I have heard...

Yes barnes bashing has been overdone but it is certainly always merited. He is an arrogant, out of touch tool.

Well done stifling, must have felt good

Off topic: You hear how Steve Thompson backs Mallett for the England coach job:

"When he was in France he spoke fluent French, he bought into the culture and led Stade Francais to the title. In Italy, he spoke fluent Italian. He went in there, found out their culture, bought into their mentality and still brought his own"

Oh bloody hell, so Mallett is going to turn into a whiny, fish and chip lover who will do all his notifications and complaining via strongly worded letters.....

Wish it did knock but once instead of incessantly bloody spamming these comments boards.

There are plenty of good commentators in the NH, just not sky ones....

....Barnes is always a tool... haven't we done that one to the death?

Incorrect. 0:23 shows the ruck and he's about level with the hindmost foot of his teammates. Good speed out of the blocks.

Since when were you allowed to drive your shoulder straight into someones face? There would be outrage if Stirling was a brown fella

Even not in a strong position, Pocock is a big lad so you have to hit really hard. Nice job there by Mortlock!
