Super 14 Pick of the Week - Round 9

Its tight at the top of the Super 14 table as the Bulls reclaimed their place at number one but have a determined Crusaders side chasing them down. The Waratahs and Stormers aren't far behind either. Let's take a look at the best tries now though, with the Pick of the Week from round nine of the tournament.

There were plenty of tries scored in round nine, with a few high scoring matches meaning that gaps were opening up all over the place, mainly thanks to the Cheetahs and the Lions, whove both struggled this season with their defensive structures.

At the top of the table its the Bulls who arent looking their best while on the road, but still managed to beat the Cheifs with a nice try from Gerhard Van Den Heever thats included here. Check out the neat flick from Morne Steyn that gets him through the gap.

The Reds scored four tries in the opening 16 minutes against the Lions at Ellis Park, as they notched up a 41-26 win as Quade Cooper once again marshalled the troops and continued in his rich vain of form. The Lions didnt give up though, scoring a few tries themselves, including one for Michael Killian from a neat Carlos Spencer special.

The Stormers were really impressive as they brushed aside a Blues side that a week earlier had beaten the Bulls. Jaque Fourie scored a great try from a Gio Aplon breakout, and Joe Rokocoko also crossed after a great interchange with Isaia Toeava. Keep an eye out for Toeavas huge hand off on Stormers flanker Francois Louw.

The Brumbies dominated the Cheetahs in Canberra as they scored nine tries on their way to a 61-15 win. There were plenty of tries to choose from, but Rocky Elsom and Alfi Mafi get theirs included here as the Brumbies let loose with some great attacking rugby.

One of the best tries of the weekend though would have to be the one scored by Fetuu Vainikolo for the Highlanders against the Force. The hard running winger has had many tries ruled out this season by the TMO, and it seems like everytime he scores these days, its referred. This time he got it down though, despite being airborn and outside the field of play. Sensational.
