'That's a reminder and we don't need another' - Chiefs player mic overs epic insights

New Zealand Super Rugby side the Chiefs got their 2024 campaign off to the perfect start in round one as they defeated perennial champions the Crusaders 33- - 29.

Front and centre for the Chiefs were backrow Luke Jacobson and flyhalf Damian McKenzie.

Leading from the front, Captain Jacobson kept his team on task with exceptional leadership whilst McKenzie supplied his usual box of tricks, including an early try-of-the-season contender.

Offering a snippet of what a professional rugby player goes through in the 80 minutes of a Super Rugby match, players in this year's competition are wearing microphones.

Already, this has taken fans closer to the action, with Jacobson catching the eye due to his clearly exceptional leadership qualities. Other interesting soundbites include the tackle in particular a significant one that McKenzie took.

What do you make of player mics? Should they become more widespread? Let us know in the comments.
