The moment Ellis Genge soaks Ugo Monye live on TV is simply priceless

Following England’s convincing 70-14 win over Canada on Saturday Ellis Genge used his man of the match champagne to soak pundit Ugo Monye live on TV.

The Leicester Tigers prop snuck up behind Monye while he was commenting on England’s performance for Channel 4 and sprayed his back with bubbly.

Monye legged it off screen while Genge stood there laughing alongside Joe Marler pitch side at Twickenham.

England’s young players shone during Saturday’s win with a hat trick on debut for winger Adam Radwan and hooker Jamie Blamire, while Marcus Smith kicked all nine conversions on offer in yet another stellar performance at fly half.

The 22-year-old was also called up to the British & Irish Lions squad to cover for the injured Finn Russell and only found out the news after being substituted in the second half.

“I don’t think it will really sink in until I get back from the Lions tour,” said Smith on Channel 4. “I’ll have to pinch myself a little when I am on the plane but when I get back I think I’ll spend a lot of time with my family, my brothers, and let the last five, six weeks sink in.

“I can’t believe what is happening at the minute. The last four weeks have been brilliant, the last four weeks I will never forget for sure. It will be special. It’s a dream come true. It’s the pinnacle for any young England player, it will be a dream come true if I get the opportunity (to play for the Lions).”

England boss Eddie Jones added: “He [Smith] has got a good feel for the game, he sees space. There are bits and pieces he has got to work on like any 10. Dan Carter was at his best at 35 and he is only 22. He still has a way to go.”
