The Rugby Club Plays of the Week - RWC Week 1

Plays of the Week from the Rugby Club is back with a RWC edition for the first round of the tournament. We're treated to the rhythmic movements of Jonah Lomu at the opening ceremony, some great tries, and of course, some of the biggest hits and funny moments.

Going back a bit, the opening ceremomy was a spectacular affair that included an appearance from New Zealand legend, Jonah Lomu. The great man has many talents, some of which include bodybuilding and even boxing. But dancing? Probably not. Sean Maloney included a clip for you to have a look.

Scot Chris Paterson's conversion attempt against Romania was one of the funnier moments of the first round, as was the streaker in the England and Argentina game. We actually posted a longer version (of the video) on the Facebook page during the week, so be sure to follow RD there too for random bits.

On that note, if you haven't Registered your RD username yet, do so now as you'll be able to interact on the site in a far more streamlined manor, as well as create your own unique identity.

In other news, grab the Rugbydump App for iPhone and Android so you can watch the latest clips, submit your photos, your greatest moments in rugby, and have a browse through our totally unofficial and unique Rugby World Cup guide. Check it out.

Steyn now holds the record, taking it from Paterson
(wikipedia says it so it MUST be true.)

And at least Steyn took all of them, rather then giving away the ones he thought he'd miss....

Yeah....would like to see that again. That thing was genius.

I think Morne Steyn might come pretty close to a world record. He didn't miss a single kick in last year's internationals, at least until the end of year ones if memory serves correct. I may be wrong though..

Nice vid as always, the plays team do a good job. Lay off the Big Man though! :)

Yeah, i think he holds the record for most consecutive international kicks or something....
mostly because he let Dan Parks take anything over about 30 meters out or near the touchline though...

embarassing for him, but unlucky too as the ball fell just before Patterson kicked it - he's normally v reliable! didn't he sequence 17 successful kicks in a row at a RWC, or sth?

It's Chris Paterson the scot. Not Scott Paterson the chris.
