TJ Perenara scores one of the most outrageous tries you'll see

The Brumbies shocked the Hurricanes this weekend after beating them 24-12, but the game will be remembered for TJ Perenara's opportunistic try.

Just three minutes into the match and with a lineout on their own line, the Brumbies can be forgiven for being complacement. But when playing All Black Perenara that can never be the case, as Joe Powell found out to his detriment.

Perenara did extremely well to leap like a salmon and intercept Powell's attempted pass to David Pocock in the in-goal area to give the Canes an early lead.

Unfortunately for the Hurricanes it would prove to be one of their only bright sparks, as tries from Kyle Godwin, Folau Fainga'a, Rory Arnold and Andy Muirhead helped the Brumbies beat NZ opposition for the first time in 855 days.

The win means that the Brumbies stay third in the Australian conference, while the Hurricanes remain in second in the NZ table.

    Fair enough. Just remember seeing some receivers (mainly lifters coming in actually) being pinged for it before.

    Hmmmm... Tried to look it up in the laws, and could only find that the receiver has to be 2m back when the lineout is formed, i.e. prior to the throw-in. After that nothing specifically about the receiver, so I'd assume after the ball is thrown the receiver has the same offside lines like any other lineout player?! If that's the case then TJ was fine.

    Impressive awareness of the play. But doesn't the receiver (both sides) have to stay 2 yards back?

    Holy moly, great awareness! I think not many other players would have scored such a try. Some people here may not like TJ (it seems...), but you've got to respect his passion and commitment that he shows every time he steps onto the field, always plays at 100%. I would certainly like to have such a player on my team, that's for sure.
