Top 14 Round Five - Best of the weekend wrap-up

We have already featured one of the games of the weekend, as Toulon beat Montpellier with some lovely tries, so today the weekend wrap features just two of the best from the Top 14, with Bordeaux vs Stade Francais, and Perpignan vs Toulouse.

Bordeaux-Begles picked up an impressive 30-22 win over Stade Francais as they scored through Heini Adams and Felix Le Bourhis, with the latter scoring a sensational try as he linked up well with his winger before taking a return, no-look pass.

Paul Williams scored a try for Stade Francais, while Jerome Porical kicked 17 points with the boot, but it was the two tries to Bordeaux, and good goal kicking from Adams and Camille Lopez that proved the difference.

Perpignan overcame Toulouse with a four-try bonus point in the first half, and a 29-6 halftime lead thanks to tries from Farid Sid, Bertrand Guiry, Guilhem Guirado, and Alasdair Strokosch.

Former Wasps flyer Richard Haughton then scored a try after a sneaky quick tap, before Toulouse came back with a penalty try and a well taken effort by Yannick Nyanga.

The entertaining game ended with Toulouse suffering their second defeat of the season, and Perpignan taking the fairly convincing 34-20 victory.

Other Top 14 results:
Agen 32 - 26 Grenoble | Bayonne 18 - 25 Racing Metro
Castres 28 - 13 Biarritz | Mont-de-Marsan 6 - 14 Clermont Auvergne

@kadova, no worries you got the wrong end of the stick, Florian's right we were talking about the bit right at the beginning of the video. If I were in Clerc's shoes I'm sure I'd have been lying on the ground in despair too!

I suppose you're talking about the missed try around 4.22 ? Clerc is not rolling like a diva, he's lying on the ground because he's furious he missed the try. Can't understand how you can see him faking an injury ??? He's not injured at all, he's upset.

Wow. Not a particular fan of USAP but if they can play like this more often should be entertaining season :-)

I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you don't punish this behaviour, it is going to grow. The only problem is that it is sometimes hard to tell if a player is injured in contact or not. So for that reason alone: STOP FAKING BEING HURT! You're doing players that really are injured a disservice because they need to be taken seriously.

I agree and would in fact go one stage further and say the cheating bastard should be banned!!

Call me old-school but I still cringe when I see wingers kicking good attacking ball away instead of trying to cut inside or sidestep the defender. The law clearly states that there's no obligation for the defender to get out of the way. The fullback's obviously going to try to charge your kick down so if you insist on kicking the bloody thing then you're going to have to think about how you're going to run around the bloke. The onus is on the attacking player to alter his course.

More importantly, when the jumping fullback has not even touched you, stay on your feet and get after the bloody ball. If you want to dive on the ground like you've been shot, piss off and play football.

I love the fact that over 40 seconds of a 5-minute highlights clip are dedicated to Vincent Clerc ballsing up that try and lying on the ground in despair!!

When that guy dropped that sure try, I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction. I do feel bad for him. We all have that play were it would been a try but we just mishandled the ball.

Ah, I see a build up in these highlights...

First scene we see someone with a split personality. One moment he's a rugby star, next scene he's rolling on the floor like a soccer diva.

Rest of the highlights: brilliant! You just gotta love French rugby.
