Two years ago Toulon played Olympique Marseille in a charity match that comprised of half football, half rugby. They've done it again, this time against France's 1998 FIFA World Cup winners, with the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Marcel Desailly and Didier Deschamps taking part.

Eric Cantona refereed the last time they played the novelty match, but this time it was Bernard Laporte, as Stade Mayol got to watch some legends of both sports have a go at one another, all in the name of charity. Proceeds will go to the Association de Pascal Olmeta charity.

Zidane scored a try but Toulon won the rugby 30-20, with the footballers scoring more goals to win 6-3 in the soccer half. The final score was 33-26 to the European Champions.

You can view highlights from the match above, and some photos on page two

I was trying to be diplomatic... It's the new image I'm going for... It helps me blend in with the new young rugby players.. that and getting cute hairstyles and rolling around on the floor when I get hurt...

It's not harsh at all. Look at that shit-eating grin as he goads the opposition player. I've defended this guy dozens of times in the past but the plain fact of the matter is he's a incorrigible bell-end.

I know it's probably a bit harsh, but it reminds me of that whole Jerry Collins playing for a small club side - If the late JC had turned the burners on, he could have probably racked up triple figure points for himself and who would have really thought high of him? Maybe this is an unfortunate incident to pick on as it may have been very one off... but I see Delon Armitage showing up a bunch of old footballers... I mean for starters the 98 wc squad can't be entirely fresh (I didn't read descriptions, so I don't know if there were young guys in there to bulk out numbers?!?), also he is a rugby player, he makes a living running hard... so to see him burst down the wing then trot around in the try area is kind of like, "Oh wow, well done Delon, you showed up a bunch of football OAP's at the game of rugby".... Going full circle back to JC, if he'd turned the burners on, it would have been a bit like "yeh well done mate, you're a pro player for the All Blacks... of course you're going to outclass us... now please **** off".. as it was, he was humble and played down his skills...

I dunno, probably is harsh on Delon, but you can't help it.. if Dylan Hartley was in this you'd be expecting him to bite, gouge, headbutt someone... (Zidane and Hartley head to head..headbutting?!?!)

I believe you are too hard with Delon Armitage. And he was actually enjoying the match.

Yep. I was praying for Zidane to suddenly appear out of nowhere and headbutt the tool in the chest.

Even in a charity match, Delon Armitage does something that makes you want to punch him!

I think the highlight would be the 'turtle on its back' impression the Toulon goalie did right before the France 98's 3rd goal.
