Toulouse Prop Shown Yellow Card For Bizarre Headbutt In Semi-Final Loss To Leinster

Toulouse travelled to Dublin in search of revenge over Leinster following their 40 - 17 semi-final drubbing in last season’s Heineken Champions Cup.

Yet, despite starting the brighter of the two sides with an early try, the French powerhouse were left in Leinster’s dust once again.

Emerging with a 41 – 22 win, Leinster reaffirmed their position as favourites to lift this season’s title at home come May 20th.

Clearly good value for the win, Leinster were helped out mightily by Toulouse’s lack of discipline.

Collecting two yellow cards, as Thomas Ramos and Rodrigue Neti were each given their marching orders. Toulouse would concede 28 points in this twenty-minute spell as Leinster ruthlessly exploited the numbers advantage.

Neti’s yellow card was particularly reckless as the prop seemingly headbutted Leinster backrow, Josh van der Flier.

After debating for quite some time, referee Wayne Barnes chose to hand out a yellow card rather than a red.

Clearly saying over the ref mic, due to the doubt surrounding the incident, a yellow card would be more appropriate than a drastic red.

The incident itself appeared to be avoidable and certainly cost Toulouse, what did you make of the incident? Let us know in the comments section below or on Facebook.
