Two minutes of chaos for Brumbies flanker during feisty match vs Lions in 2001

Former Brumbies flanker Peter Ryan was subject to a major head loss in 2001 during a warm up match against the British & Irish Lions.

The Brumbies were two points up in the second half when English full back Iain Balshaw produced a nasty high tackle on Mark Bartholomeusz, which Ryan retaliated to by slapping Balshaw twice across the face.

Then just a minute later Ryan unleashed several punches at Lions number eight Martin Corry in a maul resulting in a sin bin for the flanker.

The Lions eventually pulled through to win the game 28-30 after a last minute try from Austin Healey, who was also involved in several scraps with Brumbies lock Justin Harrison throughout the feisty match.
