Wallabies too strong for hapless Wales yet again

The Wallabies kicked off their end of year tour with an emphatic 32-8 victory over Wales in Cardiff. They scored five tries in a much improved showing after what has been a disappointing year so far. It was Australia's 12th successive win over the Welsh.

It was only the Wallabies' fourth victory in 11 matches this season, but they played some excellent rugby to dismantle the home side, who leaked tries far too easily and couldn't contain Man of the Match number ten Bernard Foley.

"Credit goes to the boys today, we knew how dangerous Wales are. We prepared really well all week," said Foley, who contributed 12 points.

"We wanted to start the tour really well. When our attack didn't work the defence was really good."

Stand in captain Gethin Jenkins on the other hand spoke of their mistakes.

"We made a few big defensive errors and they punished us. Credit to Australia, they put us to the sword. We showed some good spirit to come back at the end."

Australia play Scotland at Murrayfield next weekend as part of their five-Test tour, which also includes games against France, Ireland and England.

Wales host Argentina next, after Los Pumas beat Japan 54-20 in Tokyo on Saturday.

I thought I'd said this before but it didn't come up - so sorry for the delayed reply. But here's why I didn't include Argentina in Wales' poor form against SH teams:

Wales V New Zealand, played 33 times last time in 2016
3-30 to New Zealand: Last win for Wales 1953.

Wales V South Africa, played 31 times, last in 2015
2 - 28 (1 draw) to South Africa, Last win for Wales was 2014 (before that it was 1999)

Wales V Australia, played 40 times, last in 2016,
10 - 29 (1 draw) to Australia, Last win for Wales was 2008,

Now lets look at Wales V Argentina...

Wales V Argentina, played 15 times, last in 2013
10 - 5 to Wales, Wales last won in 2013 (Argentina won in 2012)

    The stats aren't remotely comparable.

It is so nice you didn't mention Argentina in SH teams. Hope u don't get upset in 3 weeks when they meet each other. Hope you go through first round.

    Bye

I'm just gonna say it - call it arrogance if you want but I think there's enough evidence to see its not. Wales focus too much on beating England and it's totally, and utterly, pathetic. Everything is about beating the English & the 6 Nations, nothing on beating the SH teams and it's their total undoing.

If Wales took the intensity they play with against us then they could actually beat SA/Aus/NZ. England (rightfully) don't focus on beating just one team, it's about being the best for them, they're not currently but at least that's their target.

I say this has been Wales' undoing because they may well not be seeded in the top 8 for the next world cup, leading to another nightmare group like this time - c'mon Wales, no one likes seeing you lose more than I do, but pull it together for Christ's sake.

'coming back at the end' is what NZ did (before Ireland responded)....

Not scoring one try and missing the conversion.....
