WATCH: A below the belt look at some ridiculous gamesmanship

A youtube channel has put together this fairly amusing compilation of some of the craziest below-the-belt moments seen on rugby fields in recent years.

Most of these incidents you will have seen right here on Rugbydump before, but when you see them all together at once it shows how bizarre they really are.

Rugby players have always done whatever they can to get an edge over the opposition, including some form of sledging, verbal abuse, and the dark arts that go on within scrums and mauls (that usually only forwards really understand or know about!).

But when things go below the belt, it's a different story altogether and, as we've seen before, it can result in suspension, red cards, and often, fights.

Probably the most infamous of these incidents in recent times is the Joe Marler vs Alun Wyn Jones moment in the Six Nations when Marler decided it was a good idea to walk up to the Welsh skipper and get to know him a little better.

Naturally, he was not impressed, and it resulted in a 12 week suspension for Marler and all sorts of debate about actual sexual abuse in the workplace.

In December of last year, a few months after the Marler grab, a Stade Francais player was given a fairly lenient two-week ban for a similar testicle grab that actually resulted in two red cards.

And back in 2013 Samoa's James So'oialo appeared to grab Springbok hooker Adrian Strauss between the legs, causing a stir.

He was only penalised at the time and after being cited, it was decided that the contact was accidental. It seemed like Strauss disagreed.

This compilation video from Die Hard Rugby will probably make you cringe but either way, is quite an eye-opener.
