WATCH: BIZARRE and rare moment sets up try in school rugby match

Bizarre moment sets up try in school rugby match.

In an under 15 school plate final, Stamford school scored this bizarre try off a clearing kick. The u15 plate final was held at the home ground of Premiership side Saracens, at StoneX Stadium. This score after 44 minutes of play, got Stamford their first score of the game.

Stamford had possession just inside the opposition 22, when the outhalf Hamble chipped the ball over the defence and was very unlucky not to regather possession, 10 metres out from the opposition tryline.

Oratory School regained possession off the kick and opted to use their hands back to their outhalf to exit their 22. The previous ruck was set up 5 metres out from their own line. Outhalf for Oratory, Clark attempts to clear the ball from inside his in-goal area and unfortunately the ball rebounds directly off the crossbar. The ball bounces directly underneath the crossbar after hitting it, springs back into the air and is regathered and touched down by Stamford Captain, Jack Thory to get on the scoreboard.

Stamford went on to win the final in the end having it taken them 44 minutes to get on the scoreboard. They ran out 26-22 winners in an epic display from both sides.

The commentator just about sums it up “what an astonishing try here at the StoneX Stadium!”. You definitely don’t see a try like that scored everyday!
