With a team that boasts the likes of Beauden Barrett, the Blues are often expected to provide a bit of on field magic, and in their game against the Reds, they gave it to us in abundance.
The table topping blues were only eight points ahead of the Queensland Reds going into the second half, but in the final 4o the Auckland based team really hit their stride and blew their opposition away.
However, it was in the first half that that league leaders scored their first beauty. With the ball firmly inside their own 22 metre line, the Blues shipped the ball wide to inside centre, Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, who produced a brilliant line break to make it to halfway.
Then came some brilliant link up between the two second rows, taking the Blues right to the tryline before the sublime move was finished of by winger Caleb Clark.
A truly epic coast to coast try that was described by the commentator as "Classic Blues".
Not happy with just the one incredible score, the Blues scored another beauty in the second half. This one with Beauden Barrett at the heart.
After a strong driving maul, Barrett split the Reds defence open with a great running angle. This was followed by some quick hands by the Blues backline and a perfectly waited grubber kick, where, you guessed it, Barrett was there to dot down.
The Reds would have been reasonably happy with their first half performance which only saw them trailing 22-14. However the Blues came out firing in the second half and scored five tries.
The final score at Eden Park was 53-26, increasing the Blues lead at the top of the table to seven points. The result meant that the Queensland Reds now had an 0-4 record against New Zealand based teams. It was also the most points that the Reds have conceded this season.
It was not all bad news for the Australian side however, they got in on the brilliant try scoring act themselves and scored a stunner late on in the game.
