Watch: Chris Ashton breaks record with style

By his own admission, Chris Ashton has been chasing the Premiership Try record for quite some time. A goal that has seen him play at six different English clubs.

This weekend, the former England star finally broke the record that was seemingly so close for such a long time.

It took Ashton all of three minutes, in Leicester Tigers' game against Bristol, to score his all important 93rd premiership try which sees him stand alone at the top of the try scoring charts, overtaking the previous record of 92 by Tom Varndell.

Playing with a penalty advantage, Tigers shipped the ball wide before outside centre Moroni kicked ahead, and Ashton, like so many times in his career, was at the right place to dot the ball down.

The Tigers winger was not finished here however, try 94 and 95 shortly followed. Ashton's second of the match came after some quick hands from the Leicester backs which eventually put the man of the moment away along the left hand touchline.

An already vintage first half display from the new record holder was capped off with his hat-trick try in the 27th minute - the best of the lot. Camped in their own 22, Tigers turned the ball over before making Bristol pay the ultimate price. A great line break and offload from Freddie Steward set Ben Youngs away who then shipped the ball onto Ashon and the winger showed that he has lost none of his pace to score a great try,

This encounter will not just be remembered for Ashton's moments of brilliance. The game also marked the final time Tigers legend Tom Youngs would run out at Welford Road. The former captain received a brilliant reception and Leicester's 56-26 victory over Bristol was a fitting result to mark the occasion.
