Eddie Jones has responded to criticism about his sides performances in the 2022 Six Nations championship.
When speaking to the media on Sunday morning following England’s 25-13 loss to champions France in the final game, Jones made his disappointment clear. Jones said he wasn’t happy with the results and would have liked for England to finish higher than third in the table. The goal for England this campaign was to win the championship, Jones said.
Jones was also very optimistic about the development of the England team “the amount the players have learnt is immense”, Jones continued by saying that “i’ve never been so excited about the development of the team”.
Some fans and members of the media are adamant that Jones should have been sacked while others think the calls for Jones to be removed are ‘bizarre’.
A few weeks ago, former Ireland fullback Rob Kearney described England as "poor" following their narrow win over Wales.
Jones repeated himself saying that he most definitely wasn’t pleased with the results however then went onto to ask “Do I think i’m coaching well? 100%”. The England head coach continued “I’ve coached for long enough to know that this is all part of rebuilding a team, and rebuilding a team at the international level is a complex and intriguing project”. Jones said it is particularly difficult with a team like England because “you don’t get any latitude when it comes to bringing young players through”. Jones also noted that the standards and “expectations” are very high with a team like England especially when it comes to results”.
