WATCH: Clearing kick goes horribly wrong!

The 2022 HSBC Singapore 7s came to a close yesterday following yet another action-packed weekend of scintillating Rugby 7s.

Fiji were deserved winners running away with a 28 – 17 victory in the final over fierce rivals New Zealand.

For the south pacific power-house it was their first win of the 2022 season. This victory put an end to South Africa's Blitzbokke's string of four consecutive tournament victories.

The strong final performance and the ensuing 22 log points has boosted the Fijian’s into 7th position on the table.

Despite the poor showing by their high standards the Blitzbokke remain firmly entrenched at the top of the table on 98 points a solid 15 points clear of second place Australia.

In a weekend packed with fantastic skill, outright pace and crazy finishes that once again highlights why Rugby 7s is so captivating, there was also the usual blunders that find their way onto social media platforms rather than the glittering highlight packages.

A moment that combined both crazy skill and utter misfortune, was had by the USA’s Kevon Williams.

In the big North American showdown between the USA and Canada, the American number 6 had the seemingly routine task of kicking for touch to seal an impressive victory.

Unfortunately for Williams his efforts found the upright which deflected back in field for Canada’s Anton Ngongo to pounce on for a late consolation score.

Despite the blunder the USA ended with a commanding 33 – 12 win thus sparing Williams what could’ve been an awkward post-match interview.

The kick got us thinking about the other shanked kicks over the years. Which one is your favourite? Or do you have another one to share with us? Let us know in the comments below.
