After a yellow card has been show, emotions are often running high. However in a recent Welsh Championship game two players let their anger get the better of them.
The match between table toppers Bargoed RFC and fourth placed Pontypool RFC was a fiesty affair with the league leaders aiming to continue their 100 percent winning record.
It actually was the away side who had started the game better and were 0-7 up within the first five minutes, following a try off the back of a driving maul. By midway through the first half however, Bargoed started to exert their dominance and scored two tries within the space of ten minutes, making the score 14-10 in favour of the hosts. By halftime it was 17-10.
After Bargoed's third try early in the first half, two players had an altercation which would overshadow the entire contest. Heading towards the hour mark, Pontypool prop Scott Evans and Bargoed forward Louis Blacker were both given yellow cards.
On their way to the sin bin however, the two opponents appeared to be engaged in conversation before it sparked into a fight whilst still on the pitch. The two forwards landed multiple punches, then pulled each other to the ground before teammates from both teams piled in creating a large brawl.
After the brawl was broken up, the two players who started it all had their yellow cards upgraded to reds and both teams were down to 14 men for the rest of the game.
Neither team scored again after the two guilty parties were sent off and the final score was 22-10, which further cemented Bargoed's position at the top of the league.
