WATCH: Former Ireland player says “England have been poor”

Former Ireland player says “England have been poor” so far in the Six Nations.

Following Ireland’s comfortable 57-6 win over Italy last weekend, Pundits Rob Kearney, Matt Williams and Shane Horgan gave their two cents on where England are at currently. The pundits looked forward to Ireland’s clash with England in Twickenham in the second last round of the 2022 Six Nations.

Out of the two sides, Ireland are most certainly in a better place than the 2019 Rugby World Cup finalists. Ireland hosted Italy at the Aviva Stadium for the third round of the Six Nation last Sunday. Ireland came out 51 point winners in the end with a scoreline 57-6. However, many would say that this was a strange game.

Without a doubt a pivotal moment in the game was the red card shown to substitute Italian hooker Epalahame Faiva after 19 minutes of play. However, this red card had more drastic effects on the Italian chances than expected. Italy were forced to play with 13 players for the rest of the game due to law 3.20.

Former Ireland fullback Rob Kearney said following the win that “I think they’ll go to Twickenham with a lot of confidence”. Kearney thinks it's a game that Ireland should win considering the form of both sides. “They’re a better team than England” said the prolific former Ireland fullback. He continued “England have been poor over the last few weeks..they look as if they’re lacking direction..they don’t know what type of game they want to play”.

Kearney said that Eddie Jones will say that they’re in “rebuilding mode”. Kearney says this is a game that Ireland can target and get a win in London”.
