Saracens replacement full back Charlie Watson received a red card for violent conduct against Northampton in the Premiership Rugby Cup on Sunday.

The 19-year-old was being held by Saints centre Andy Symons at a breakdown and in the process of trying to free his boot made contact with the face of Symons.

Whether it was accidental or not, the youngster received a red card while Symons was given a sin bin for being the instigator.

Saracens won the game 28-54 thanks to a brace of tries from centre Nick Tompkins and full match highlights are available below:

Maybe a wet willie would have been just as effective but less detrimental to his career. I feel for him but you can't boot someone in the head.

It just takes someone from either side to clear Watson out at slightly the wrong angle and he’ll break his leg / rupture knee ligaments. This holding onto players can be as dangerous as any of the high tackles we have seen recently. I’d have reacted the same tbh
