WATCH: Spine tingling monologues show why Eddie Butler was one of rugby's greatest broadcasters

For many rugby fans, Eddie Butler's voice goes hand in hand with the sport we love. A constant presence in rugby's greatest movements, and someone who would make those moments even greater.

Aside from his exceptional commentary with Brian Moore, and insightful pre/post match interviews, Mr Butler was one of the greatest wordsmiths around. His scriptwriting was second to none, and as result he was regularly hired to voice stirring montages before a game kicked off.

Below is some of Butler's best monologues, and although we may not all be proud Welshmen, it is impossible to not be in awe of his words and performance.

His skill as a broadcaster lead to regular appearances outside of rugby, including this rousing speech for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The sporting community has truly lost of its best voices.

It's hard to find the right words to sum up Eddie Butler, but then again nobody can say the perfect words, at the perfect time, in the perfect way....nobody expect Eddie himself.
