The Springboks scored a ridiculous try off the back of a huge 45-metre driving maul against Japan in Sunday’s World Cup quarter-final match.

South Africa dominated the Japanese physically with a driving maul near the half way line which led to a try for scrum half Faf De Klerk.

Japan were left helpless to the organised drive by the Springboks, who continued to peel off and keep the maul moving before Malcolm Marx made the decisive break and offload to De Klerk.

This was South Africa’s second try of the game which helped them to a 3-26 win in Tokyo and full match highlights are available below:

Truck and trailer perhaps on the break away? Took the boks a long time to work out how to win this - should have been the obvious game plan from the start
