WATCH: Sublime skills on show for new Super Rugby side Moana Pasifika’s first try

Moana Pasifika bagged their first ever competitive try at the weekend.

New Super Rugby side Moana Pasifika are still without a win there were a few positives in their recent result. Moana Pasifika lost 33-12 to the Crusaders at home yesterday in the first competitive game for the franchise.

Their opening fixture was put on hold due to covid cases from inside the camp, however they finally got their first run out against giants, the Crusaders.

Another new Franchise to Super Rugby Pacific for 2022, the Fijian Drua secured their first win after three games yesterday against the Melbourne Rebels. The Drua ran out 31-26 winners in the third round of Super Rugby Pacific yesterday.

Although Moana Pacifika lost their opening game, there were some positives. They scored their first try in sublime fashion against the Crusaders yesterday. Their first try came after 5 minutes minutes of play while to take a 5 point lead.

A break up the middle of the field combined with some lovely inside passes set up a key attacking platform for Moana Pasifika. After one phase and some good feet they get up to 2 metres away from the Crusaders line. Quick ruck ball allows them to utilise the space and the overlap on the right handside to score in the corner. The try was scored by backrower Solomone Funaki.

Although the game was lost in the end but the new franchise did well to secure their first score.
