WATCH: The best and worst of when forwards have a go at kicking

Forwards kicking is a bit in vogue at the moment, following last weekend's epic Top 14 promotion/relegation play-off between Biarritz and Bayonne, so we thought we'd have a look back on some more memorable times the big fellas put boot to ball.

Andrew Forde puts together brilliant compilation videos on YouTube and this one is no different. Forwards kicking might not seem the most natural of skills for those normally in the thick of the nitty gritty, but there have been many who have shown plenty of talent when it comes to this aspect of the game.

Like former Australia captain John Eales, who was one of the most prolific goal-kickers of the game during his career. Or Gethin Jenkins who sometimes even surprised himself with some of his kicks.

Loose forwards like Justin Tipuric or Zinzan Brooke almost take themselves out of contention as they wouldn't look out of place in the mid-field, such is their range of skills.

Others such as Jack McGrath might want to banish memories of their kicking prowess or spend more time on the training paddock perfecting their skill before employing it on the field.

But one thing is for sure, the modern-day rugby player is a far more rounded one than in previous years, meaning we are more and more likely to see forwards kicking - and who knows, wingers counter-rucking! - in the years to come.
