WATCH: Tom Banks red card and penalty try labelled ridiculous

Tom Banks was on the receiving end of a red card after a head clash with Western Force winger Toni Pulu. The Force were also awarded a penalty try as a result of the collision.

Brumbies coach Dan McKellar stated after the match he believes the card was a mistake. "It's a high-speed, high-collision game... Banksy is coming across at full speed Toni Pulu changes direction and there's a head clash" he said. Before further elaborating "I thought the decision was wrong, and as a game we have to look at those sort of thing".

McKellar also brought up the idea of an 'orange card' and a subsequent 20 minute sin bin for indiscretions that are unintentional.

Super Rugby Pacific's rule alterations allowing for a red carded player to be replaced after 20 minutes helped save this fixture. The game turned out to be a good one after a fast start from the Brumbies had them 20 - 3 up, after just 20 minutes of play. Before Bank's being red carded led to a come back by the Force.

The game ended up being very close with the Brumbies sneaking home 39-38.
